In advance of Memorial Day this weekend here in the US, a few lines in remembrance of another war:
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
from "For the Fallen"
And, with a little more irony:
Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
Let's not forget that Monday is not about sales and picnics and NASCAR races. It's about dead countrymen. That's why it's called Memorial Day.
