Proposed LJ changes

Guys, I don't know how many of you have seen the proposed changes for Tuesday's release, but there are some very worrying ones. Among them are getting rid of subject lines on all comments, even ones already existing (which would render anon/kinkmemes completely unnavigable), without any kind of recourse, and getting rid of the drop-down icon selection menu, instead making you wait for all of your icons to load first and then they won't apparently be organised alphabetically by keyword.
wendymr has an excellent post on this here.
One thing we can do is send feedback through the Contact Us section; I've sent a letter, reposted under the cut.
I, like a vast majority of fandom users of LJ, use and need the subject line in comments. It is the only way to find posts in anon communities, it serves to inform people of what is contained in response posts, and is the only way to find posts through a journal or community's archive. Even if many other users don't use the subject line much, there's no reason to get rid of it--it's not hurting anyone, helps a lot of us, and shouldn't just go away, changing posts ex post facto.
Also, the drop-down icon menu is one of the pluses of the site; waiting for all of my icons to load every time I post/reply and not having them organised alphabetically will not be an improvement. You really ought to conduct polls of users before unilaterally deciding to get rid of important features. Not all of us are a captive audience, and these actions are guaranteed to send many of us to other journalling sites. I like LJ, but these proposed changes will make me like it much, much less.
Thanks for your consideration.
