(Belated) Reaction to Last Night's Speech

rhia_starsong...by Pres. Obama. (Sorry. I may end up abbreviating things in this post due to an unfortunate tendency of the upper left keys to be difficult to press, particularly w and r.)
But first, a story from philosophy class. We were talking about Thomas Reid's response to Hume's argument from contiguity. The argument goes something like this:
Which of course is complete rubbish. Anyway, I was actually on the way to making a (good) point, and couldn't resist the awful (if true) pun: Hume seems to have literally lost perspective. Yes. I went there.
Anyway.
This reads pretty much like a liveblog, 'cause I was scribbling as fast as I could while taking in the President's great oratory (and isn't it such a relief to be able to say that without being totally sarcastic?).
Loved this bit from the opening: 'the men and women who sent us here'.

- The table does not diminish as I move away from it.
- Therefore, I am not directly aware of the table.

*begins w/ jobs: 'not b/c I believe in bigger gov't.--I don't.' Ooh, answer that you obstructionist and irrelevant republicans.
yeah, we already saw that if the stimulus is delayed (again), more jobs lost; Bush did nothing for about three-four months, and everything got much worse.
VP Biden ('b/c nobody messes w/ Joe!') to lead v. tough oversight panel--Oh, I love how embarrassed Biden is here, blushing a bit while grinning that big, toothy grin he has!
