Okay, I have to preface this with a confession that will likely surprise no-one who knows me as a fan: I pretty much knew what was going on here because I read massive spoiler fic, so this was just to fill in the blanks, as it were. That said, it was rather a nice start to the season.

I love that the "Blowfish" lets the old lady cross the street, and that it obeys the stop light. What kind of criminal alien goes out of its way to only menace one specific person?

Oh, that little chuckle of Jack's is not a sign of good emotional health.

Mmm, Jack sure knows how to pick 'em--Capt. John is quite lovely, in his own distinctive sort of way.

omgawesome! He picks the guy up one-handed and dangles him--that's fun to watch!

Just walks into a fucking bar and starts telling people to go or stay based on how they look--gotta love it.

I really like how Gwen's handling Jack--she's matured.
I'm def. with Ianto's eyeroll there. I do like that Gwen put him with Jack, though.

Oh, Gwen, this is why you still need Jack: you can't really get yourselves out of all these messes on your own.

I do find it interesting that John doesn't harm Ianto when he has the chance--could just be because he was with Jack, and John wants to get to Jack faster, but why not just shoot him, if that's the case? Also, the nickname 'Eye Candy'.
