Dreamwidth questions

So, I've noticed that a lot of people are using Dreamwidth, and thought I'd give it a try.  I'm a little confused about signing up for an account, though; how does one obtain a code to create an account?  I really don't want to purchase an account; I already have a paid lj, guys.  Does anyone have the scoop on this? 

In other news, I just got back from a week and a half in Atlanta with the other set of parents, who are in the process of selling their house and moving to Alabama.  Visited step-mom's family in Birmingham, which was a lot of fun, since her niece is totally as big a geek/fangirl as I am.  We apparently were totally loud and conversation-monopolizing at dinner fangirling Torchwood, Doctor Who, Eureka, and other awesome fandoms.  Fun times.

After a while, Dreamwidth users are given codes that they can offer to friends so that they can create their own DW journals - much like LJ did back when it started, or Gmail. I have two spare codes, if you want one, but I'll need your e-mail address to send it to you.

Hee, I'll definitely friend you then. Yeah, good call on the icon front; I may yet appropriate it for my own use. I plan on catching up with the rest of your Fourteenth Doctor fics over the summer holidays. My cats enjoy it when I do because I'm in one place just about all day :D

We got out for summer back in May, and get through August off. I'm probably taking fall semester off, as well, so no school again til January.

No school til January sounds lovely.

Oh, same old, same old. Had my holidays in June, but I'm back to the office. I've spent the past 7 months (ever since I was transferred) without internet access in my office computer, but this week it was finally installed. It doesn't compensate for my idiotic co-workers, though.
